A major update to the Windows Operating System was announced by Microsoft at the end of June. The new Windows 11 includes many surprises, enhancing productivity and creativity. It begins with the lock screen – Windows Hello is improved, the screen wake speed is increased, Start is repositioned in the middle, and ends with, well there’s no end to it.

Better pixels and fluid icons, as well as transparency in the background, results in a better viewing experience. It has more vivid colors and everything is seamlessly designed. Themes have been customized, light/dark modes have been tuned with contrasts. Transitions are such that will soothe and connect to you. All the windows, tabs and apps will have rounded edges to make you feel at home.

There’s nothing more empowering than one’s computer adjusting according to one’s needs. And Windows 11 is all about that.

Requirements for Windows 11 Download

How to download and install Windows 11?

If their system meets the requirements, all users of Windows 10 can update to Windows 11 for free. When you click Edit > Update & Security, an update will appear. You can download and install Windows 11 when it is launched in early 2022 when you check for updates.

The Start will be utilizing Cloud and the power of Microsoft365 which will help you see your recent files no matter what platform or device you were using them on earlier.

Snap Layouts

One of my favorite features in Windows 11 is Snap layouts. It is a creative way to help increase your productivity by engaging you into more than one tab on a single screen. It will save you time from switching among different tabs you want to work on, making it very useful for your workflow. The Snap Layouts have been customized to fit the size of your screen. You can choose the layout that suits you best.

Similarly, we have Snap Groups which will remember the collection of tabs you were working on right on the taskbar. With Snap Groups on the taskbar, you can switch between apps or entire projects. It’s task-switching on another level.

Docking

Are you docking yet? If you aren’t using it, start now. An extra monitor will give you more screen space to spread out by getting your work separated methodically. It also adds the satisfaction of taking your device anywhere with the saved data from another monitor.

 If you use docking, Windows has made it more convenient for everyone. Whenever you need to move around, you can disconnect your portable device and all your data from the extra screen will be saved on your taskbar, minimized in Snap Groups. Now, you can reconnect that extra monitor and have everything back on its screen where you had it before. No more stressing out on remembering or reconfiguring your layout. This will save your time and tediousness. Only with Windows 11!

Desktops

With Windows 11 it is possible to design each desktop with a unique background pattern to suit its purpose, place, and appearance. Multi-desktops can be organized based on your mood or objective to keep you intrigued and organized. There are some amazing new desktop themes, which you can customize according to your preferences.

This time Teams will have direct integration into windows. You can connect with people more easily with this update.

Windows Widgets

You will be served hand-picked content through the contemporary feed of widgets on the glass sheet to the left of the screen powered by AI. It’s a great place for taking a break or getting inspired without losing your spot. In other words, all these widgets will adjust according to you, not vice versa. The widget pane can be extended to full screen as well. It is more productive because of its simplified view that helps our mind to be calm and the new advancements help fast switching among apps.

 Windows Tablet

On this tablet, you will see the view is similar to that of the PC. Moving windows and resizing it is easier because it has subtle cues to make it easier. Snap Layouts work on tablets as well to make the most of the screen. In addition, gestures are the same as those on PC’s trackpad is a smart as well as an efficient way to get work done.

The introduction of pen on tablets is such a felicity. With Windows 11 haptics are enabled to make using a pen more engaging and mesmerizing. Execution and implementation of ideas have become faster. Highlighting content and taking notes (via pen & voice) helps learners.

Microsoft Store

Microsoft Store has been redesigned from the ground up to be beautiful and simple to use. The entertainment tab has been redesigned to bring all the top TV shows and movies in one place. All the store content can be viewed on TV via a wireless connection.

Android apps are coming to the Microsoft store through Amazon Appstore to keep you productive with little breaks. Android apps can be consolidated into Start.

Gaming

Folks if you are a gamer, Windows 11 is just for you. There is an immense selection of games that Windows 11 delivers the best possible gaming experiences yet with amazing graphics and incredible speed. The highest constancy games on all PCs can be played with integrated Xbox Cloud.

The games’ lightning and color will be automatically adjusted to HDR (High Dynamic Range) with Auto HDR. Over 1000 games will be self-enhanced on Windows 11 devices that support HDR.

There will be DirectStorage support in Windows 11, an innovative feature that would allow games to load faster. DirectStorage was first introduced in November 2020 on Xbox series X and S. With this technology game assets will be swiftly loaded to the graphics card without straining down the CPU. Say Bye! to the long loading times.

The most exciting of all are the games. And in Windows 11 Microsoft has built Xbox Game Pass, through the Xbox app. This Game Pass will unlock games to everyone at a low monthly price. Games from both Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda the day they launch & EA play and the third-party developers big or small are included in the Game Pass library.

Release of Beta Version

The Beta version of Windows 11 was made available on 28th, June 2021 just after 4 days of announcement. Beta version is available to Insider testers in the Dev Channel. This version includes some of the features that Microsoft displayed in the event where Windows 11 was disclosed.

An open Eco-system for all

The new changes are escorting greater opportunities. Microsoft will be enabling developers and software vendors to bring their apps to Microsoft. The apps could be developed on Win32, Progressive Web App (PWA) or Universal Windows App (UWA), or any other framework for an app, to increase their reach and engagement with people. 

Microsoft’s revenue policy has some changes too. The application developers can get their own commerce into the Microsoft store and get 100% of their revenue – Yes, 100%! and Microsoft would take nothing, zero. And the developers will have a revenue share of 85/15 on using Microsoft commerce.
