POCO, a sub-brand of Xiaomi which was loved by Indian users for its first smartphone POCO F1. The POCO brand recently launched POCO X2 in direct competition of REALME X2. And now, POCO launched its new phone POCO M2 PRO in the INDIAN market. The company targets the BUDGET segment that is around 12,000-18,000 INR.
POCO M2 PRO
Seems like the company has no plans to launch the POCO F2. With the POCO F1 company directly challenged the Flagship smartphones in the market at that time (mid-2018) but with the launch of the last two phones POCO X2 and POCO M2 PRO the company is competing with the Mid-Range smartphones.

There is no need for this smartphone in the market. This isn’t a new smartphone bringing some high-end specifications according to its price. This is just the rebranded REDMI NOTE 9 PRO, with the back design of the PEDMI NOTE 9 PRO GLOBAL edition. POCO’s first smartphone POCO F1 shocked the whole smartphone industry with its flagship killer specs at slightly above budget range (~20,000 INR). The phone was launched in Out of the Blue, Green, and Greener, and Two Shades of Black colors. It bears a glass body. The rebranding can be clearly spotted by observing the dimensions of both the phones
POCO M2 PRO | REDMI NOTE 9 PRO | |
HEIGHT | 165.75 mm | 165.75 mm |
WIDTH | 76.68 mm | 76.68 mm |
Even the Thickness and Weight are also identical on both phones.
HELO app is pre-installed in the POCO M2 PRO which was recently banned by the Indian Government. The cleaner (CLEAN MASTER) app which comes built-in is developed by CHEETAH MOBILE which is also on the list of banned apps. CLEAN MASTER gets access to all the permissions of the phone without asking the User. This raises privacy concerns in the mind of consumers and could possibly damage the Brand value. This POCO just disappointed all the POCO fans. Its clear that XIAOMI is just replacing their flop REDMI NOTE 9 PRO with POCO M2 PRO.
